2 western KY teens accused of vandalizing mailboxes

WEST PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Two western Kentucky 18-year-olds face a number of charges after a sheriff's office investigation.

According to the McCracken County sheriff's office, Jacob L. Stringer, 18, of Paducah was charged with theft by unlawful taking u/$500 and 39 counts of criminal mischief 3rd degree.

Preston D. Robinson, 18, of Paducah was charged with complicity to theft by unlawful taking u/500 and 39 counts of criminal mischief 3rd degree.

Stringer was charged on November 5 and Robinson was charged Nov. 12.

Stringer and Preston Robinson were accused of theft of a moped on Moore Road.

Deputies say that Stringer and Robinson took the moped out to the Kentucky Wildlife Management Area (KOW) and rode it until it was no longer drivable. Stringer and Robinson left the moped at the KOW.

Stringer, Robinson and other believed juveniles are also accused vandalizing a number of West Paducah mailboxes.

On October 9 and 10, residents in West Paducah reported their mailboxes had been vandalized and garbage cans had been taken during night hours.

Upon further investigation, deputies found a number of mailboxes vandalized throughout West Paducah along with garbage cans at a number of locations tipped over with garbage strewn all over the streets.

Deputies found least 60 mailboxes were vandalized.

The investigation is continuing and detectives believe there will be others charged with the vandalism.

Stringer and Robinson are only being charged with thirty-nine counts of Criminal mischief due to the fact of the residents didn't want to seek charges, or restitution.
