IEMA offers tips to help prepare for winter

ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

Winter isn't here yet, but temperatures are already dropping into the 30s across the Heartland.

Last year the Heartland had one of the coldest winters on record. From bottled water to blankets, common items can make a difference during winter's frigid blasts.

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is urging people to gear up.

Last year's tough winter isn't expected to be the last of it.

It's November and we're already seeing temperatures in the 30s. Experts predict another tough winter.

The IEMA reports that being prepared is key. Having common household items like batteries, medicine and bottled water is a must as we get into the winter months.
