Herrin, Carterville fans express football excitement

CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The Herrin Tigers and the Carterville Lions will go head to head on Saturday and fans of both teams are gearing up for the big day.

Fans are spreading their excitement about Saturday's game all over town.

Throughout the two communities, local shops, restaurants and other businesses are showing off their school spirit.

Macey Rumsey and her husband are business owners in Carterville and she says they can't wait for the big match up.

“Yes, we are pumped,” Rumsey said. “We're from Carterville, we both graduated in ‘09, but we have tons of family and friends in Herrin, so this is just huge for this area.”

Herrin high school students painted the town black and orange earlier on Tuesday morning.

Lindy Stevenson, Herrin high school senior, says her school will be ready to cheer on the tigers.

“The whole student body loves the tiger spirit and we really enjoy just showing the town what we love,” Stevenson said.

The football team that wins this playoff game will advance to the next round.

“We are ready to show Carterville what we got,” Stevenson said.

“Well we are a Carterville business, and we're from Carterville, so, we're for Carterville,” Rumsey said.

The Herrin Tigers are 10 and 1 and the Carterville Lions are 11 and 0.

The game is Saturday, November 15, at 1 p.m. at the Carterville High School.
