CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - No time table has been set for when we might hear about a grand jury decision in the case against the Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson who shot and killed the unarmed Michael Brown.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon talked about the work that law enforcement has been doing to prepare for any reaction to the decision on Tuesday.

"We all know that when the grand jury decision is announced emotions will run high. None of us want a repeat of what occurred in August.,” Nixon said. “That would threaten the very real gains that are being made throughout the St. Louis Community."

Nixon says the Highway Patrol and National Guard will be available to Ferguson and St. Louis County leaders.

CNN reports gun sales have sky rocketed in the St. Louis area this past week.

One gun store owner in St. Louis reports sales are up almost 50 percent this month.

That owner says many people have expressed fear for what might happen in the wake of the grand jury's decision.

Here in the Heartland, people do not seem to be taking the same measures.

Griffan Reutzel owner of Liberty Teeth Armory in Cape Girardeau says the topic seems to be on everyone's mind but it has not translated into higher sales.

"A lot of people are talking about it,” Reutzel said. “At least three to four or half a dozen a night will mention something about it."

While Reutzel says he has not sold more guns, he did say sales of ammunition typically used for self-defense has jumped in the last couple weeks.
