Bystanders help save KY man's life after crash in Livingston County

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

State police say bystanders helped to save a western Kentucky man's life after a wreck on Saturday morning.

It happened shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday on Hwy. 60 and Silver Mine Road in Livingston County, Kentucky.

According to Kentucky State Police, Morris Driskill of Smithland, Kentucky was traveling eastbound on US 60 near Silver Mine Road.

Then Driskill's vehicle ran off the road into a ditch striking a concrete drainage pipe with his front right wheel.

The vehicle flipped over and threw Driskill out of the driver's side window.

The vehicle came to rest in the upright position on US 60.

Driskill was found by passersby in front of his driver's side door, not breathing.

They immediately started chest compressions on Driskill until he began to breathe again on his own.

Livingston County EMS responded to the scene and he was airlifted from the scene by PHI to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

KSP was assisted at the scene by Livingston County EMS, Livingston County Sheriff Office, PHI Air Medical, Burna Fire Department and Smithland Fire Department.
