Volunteers collect food for hurting food pantry in Scott City

SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) -

Church members, Boy Scouts, and other volunteers came out to came out to collect food for the Scott City Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry on Saturday.

Hundreds of pounds of food along with hundreds of money was collected.

A U-Haul truck was rented out and parked in front of Bob's Foodliner in Scott City, Missouri.

Volunteers were on hand collecting donations as children were out waving signs to help benefit people in need.

Organizers say the food pantry is extremely low and is in desperate need of non-perishable food items to stock their supply for the holidays.

People there said the economy is still bad for some. And, it's important to help them out so they have a warm place to live - and food for their families for this upcoming winter season.

People can still donate even if they didn't get a chance to drop off any donations on Saturday.

The Scott City Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry is open every Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Main Street in Scott City.
