Victim identified in Perry County, IL murder investigation

PERRY COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The victim in a Perry County, Illinois murder investigation has been identified.

According to the Perry County Sheriff's Department, the victim was identified as 51-year-old Jeff Harris of Cutler.

A Coulterville, Illinois man has been charged in connection with the murder investigation.

William Farnsworth, 61, was charged with one count of first degree murder. He was taken to the Perry County Jail.

Farnsworth appeared in court on Monday, Nov. 10 and his bond was set at $5 million.

He will appear in court again on Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.

According to Perry County Sheriff Keith Kellerman, deputies and a Pinckneyville ambulance were called to a home on Goldenrod Road in Coulterville around 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7.

He said they found a 51-year-old man dead in his vehicle as a result of an apparent gunshot wound.

Sheriff Kellerman said Farnsworth was also on the scene and arrested.

Du Quoin and Pinckneyville police are assisting the Perry County sheriff and coroner's offices in the investigation.
