Massac County sheriff's office responds to second search this week

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Sheriff Ted Holder says for the second time the week emergency personnel have had to help find lost people in Massac County, Illinois.

On Thursday, the sheriff says a 911 call was received at the Massac County Sheriff's Office from a deer hunter who said he was lost in the Mills Springs area of Massac County.

Members from the sheriff's office, Massac County Fire Department, Brookport Police Department and the City of Metropolis Emergency Management Agency responded to the area and searched for around 45 minutes before the hunter was found.

The hunter from Tennessee said he was tracking a deer that he shot.

On Monday, the sheriff's office responded to a call that a 3-year-old boy with autism had wandered away from home in the New Columbia area.

The sheriff's office, Massac County Fire Department, Massac County Ambulance service along with neighbors searched for around 30 minutes until he was spotted by a fireman.

The sheriff said the boy had been around a pond, and was wet when he was found.
