EAST PRAIRIE (KFVS) - Two East Prairie, Missouri residents are facing felony charges after a burglary investigation by the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department.
Janet Marie Williams, 53, and Laura Jean Williams, 28, were charged with second degree burglary and felony stealing.
Their bonds were set at $25,000 each.
According to Mississippi County Sheriff Keith Moore, the investigation began on Tuesday when a county resident contacted the department to report clothing and jewelry stolen from her home.
After the investigation, deputies say several of the items stolen from the home had been sold at a yard sale hosted by Laura Williams and Janet Williams the week before.
Based on that information, deputies contacted several residents who visited the yard sale and with their cooperation, were able to return several stolen items to their rightful owner.
A short time later, deputies say they found the Williams' in East Prairie and arranged for both to be taken to the sheriff's department of questioning.
When they arrived, deputies say the mother and daughter duo participated in several videotaped interviews during which deputies developed probable cause to believe both ladies were equally responsible for the burglary.
The two women were arrested and booked into the Mississippi County Detention Center.
