INA, IL (KFVS) - Rend Lake College is helping students dress for success, for free.

In the North Oasis building, there is an entire room for students to shop for gently used business and formal clothes.

Whether it is for an interview, class presentation or another professional setting, students have the opportunity to shop in Room 120, also called the Clothing Closet. And it's free for students.

Prestunn Bolton, a student, said that a place like this gives students a chance to really benefit from what the university has to offer.

"I mean not a lot of people can afford universities," Dunn said. "So a lot of people don't really have a lot of money to pay for expensive clothes."

The gently used clothes, ties, shoes and other accessories are donated by faculty and staff.

Cory Renois, student, thinks the Clothing Closet is great.

"I mean it gives them confidence to have nice clothes to wear for an interview," Renois said.

Jeannie Mitchell, Clothing Closet founder, said this helps students ease the stress on trying to find a professional outfit.

“"We work really hard to make sure we prepare the students for their next step whether it's an interview, a meeting, or just to prepare for speech class," Mitchell said. "So we felt this was a good way to prepare them for what they needed to do."

The Clothing Closet opened in the Fall of 2014.

After a student uses the item, they can either keep it or donate it back for other students to use.
