Non-voters say their voice not heard, not enough info

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Millions of people across the nation are voting at the polls on Tuesday. However, even more are staying away from the polls.

Non-voters say they have a busy lifestyle and it's not their priority to squeeze in a trip to the polls. Non-voters also say they just don't have enough knowledge about what's going on to care to even vote.

Some say with the technology we have today, information should be easier to find about what is on the ballots.

"I just feel like I didn't hear much about it," Meagan Hale said. "Like I saw stuff on the internet that said vote yes for this or vote no for this but I never really saw anything about what it was."

"Information about it should be easier like tweets or Facebook, they should say more about it," Timara Wright said.

One person says there is a reason why many people don't vote because it is not easily accessible.

"Eventually electronics is going to take over everything so I feel like if we start doing electrical voting, we could go to a private website or something from our phones and vote, I think that could also appeal to people," Cameron Ellington of Cape Girardeau said.

Some non-voters feel that voting is a waste of time in general. They feel that their voice isn't heard and voting is not the best way to make a difference.

"I feel like we have somewhat of a say but I think the government has more of a say then like what we have," Hale said. "I think people would vote more if they had more influence."
