MAKANDA, IL (KFVS) -

Multiple crews fought a large house fire near Stone Creek Golf Club near Makanda Tuesday morning.

The fire marshal was called to the scene at 136 Stone Lake Drive. Crews believe the fire started around 5:20 a.m. in the kitchen.

Officials originally thought the fire had consumed multiple structures because the blaze was so large, but the fire is only impacting the one home.

The owners of the home were on vacation and not home when the fire started, according to an insurance adjuster on the scene.

A lot of water was used to put out the flames for this Makanda house fire.

Officials from Makanda Water Utility Company say they have not received any calls about water not running in the area.
