Board member removed at Hayti Heights meeting

HAYTI HEIGHTS, MO (KFVS) - There were fireworks on Monday, Nov. 3 at the Hayti Heights Board of Alderman meeting.

At a recent meeting, city leaders say Elijah Green was removed from his board of alderman seat. On Monday, they made it clear they intend to honor that change.

Green believes it's because he asked for the financial records of the housing authority, a story Heartland News told you about earlier. But, another member of the board says Green let a personal matter with the director of the housing authority get in the way.

"And it spun out of control and that was putting a dark spot on our city hall," Brenda Ruff, an alderwoman, said.

Others didn't agree.

"I don't think that's a legitimate reason to remove a board member," Mia Jones, an alderwoman, said. "I think it should have discussed before it was done."

Green said he plans to get an attorney to fight his removal from the board of alderman in Hayti Heights.
