Salt in stock ahead of winter season

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The winter weather in 2013 brings concern of salt being sparse in the upcoming winter season.

However, consumers who want to buy salt for their own personal use don't have to worry about that yet.

Fred Elias, the owner at Ace Hardware in Cape Girardeau, said at this moment they have lots of salt in stock, including other items such as shovels, gloves, snowblowers, etc.

Elias sent in orders early in the year to meet the demand of salt purchases. As of now, he hasn't had much struggle finding enough salt. Pallets of salt are available for purchase and there's plenty in stock as of now.

Elias was told that supplies further in the season might become more difficult to get a hold of depending on how this winter weather plays out.

He also said that the previous winter's salt shortage has not affected the price as well, and is still the going rate compared to previous years.

Elias said they have already seen a lot of people come in and stock up on winter weather supplies including two snowblowers, more than 100 bags of salt and other items.
