Sikeston DPS investigates 2 shootings Saturday night

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

Officers are investigating two separate Saturday night shootings in Sikeston, Missouri.

According to Sikeston Department of Public Safety Captain Jim McMillian, the first call came in at 10:35 p.m. of shots fired at 409 Clayton Ave.

A man was shot twice, one time in the back and once in the leg.

The man said he was getting out of the car and heard gunshots and then was shot.

The man then ran a block away to a house, where an ambulance was called for him.

He was later flown to a Cape Girardeau, Missouri hospital with serious injuries. McMillian says he is expected to recover.

While Sikeston DPS was working that incident, officers received some information that a man at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston had a gunshot wound to the knee.

The man said he was driving north on Branum Street around 10:10 p.m. and his car was shot as he was driving by a convenience store at 889 W. Malone Ave.

Officers responded, but didn't find much evidence.

McMillian says at this point it is not sure if the two shootings are related.

If anyone has any information, call Sikeston DPS.

Capt. McMillian reminds the public that their tips can remain anonymous.
