MARION, IL (KFVS) - It is the final weekend before voters have a chance to head to the polls across the Heartland.

The battle for the Illinois governor seat is expected to be one of the closest in the nation.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner made his final stop in Southern Illinois on Saturday.

He shook hands and talked with supporters at the Williamson Regional Airport in Marion, Illinois.

Rauner had a confident message for his supporters.

"We're going to win this race and we're going to restore the pride and prosperity," Rauner said. "I love this state. This is home. This is home. Home is worth fighting for."

The Deerfield, Illinois native has campaigned extensively in southern Illinois throughout the election season.

Some early polls show the race between Rauner and democratic incumbent Pat Quinn will be neck and neck heading into the election on Tuesday.
