Benton, KY man accused of impersonating an officer

FANCY FARM, KY (KFVS) - A Benton, Kentucky man was dressed as a police officer on Halloween, but it's no trick-or-treat, he now faces charges.

Johnathan Collins, 43, of Benton, Kentucky was charged with impersonating a peace officer, possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine 1st offence,( firearm enhanced), and promoting contraband 1st degree.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said around 10:30 a.m. Friday, his office got a call from an off-duty police officer.

The officer reported a man at Dollar General in Fancy Farm wearing an official police uniform.

When deputies arrived, they questioned Collins.

According to the sheriff's office, Collins admitted that he was not a police officer. He was wearing the uniform complete with a .38 caliber revolver, baton, and handcuffs.

The sheriff's office also says they found methamphetamine in possession of on Collins.
