Murphysboro woman accused of taking more than $11K from church daycare

Police say a southern Illinois woman is facing forgery and theft charges and accused of taking thousands from a church daycare..

In August 2014,  the Carbondale Police Department initiated an investigation into a forgery and theft complaint at the First Presbyterian Church Day Care on University Ave. in Carbondale, Illinois.

Police say Tina Wright , 42, of Murphysboro, Illinois allegedly forged documents and stole money while she was employed by the church day care.

It is reported to have happened between March 2013 and May of 2014 and involved more than $11,000.

A Jackson County warrant charging Wright with forgery and theft was issued and included a $100,000 bond.

Wright turned herself in to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office on Oct. 22 and posted the bond.

The investigation into this incident is continuing.
