GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Graves County, Kentucky Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says an Illinois woman faces charges after a two vehicle injury crash on KY 131.

The sheriff says that Samantha Walters, 24, of Metropolis, Illinois, was taken to the Graves County Jail and charged with counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree, failure to wear seatbelt, no registration plates, no registration receipt, no insurance, possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle, driving on DUI suspended license, and operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol 2nd offence.

On Wednesday around 5 p.m., deputies responded to the 8400 block of KY 131 for a side-swipe collision.

Redmon says one of the vehicles left the road before coming to a rest in a group of small trees.

According to the sheriff, the collision occurred when Walters' vehicle crossed the center lane and side swiped a vehicle driven by Laureen Blackshear of Mayfield, Kentucky.

After colliding with Blacksheer, Walters crossed the oncoming lane of traffic nearly hitting another vehicle.

Walter's vehicle came to rest approximately 6' off the ground in a cluster of trees.

Blacksheer was not injured in the collision.

Walters was taken by EMS to an area hospital where she was medically cleared and released to the Graves County Sheriff's Department.

The Graves County Sheriff Department was assisted by Mayfield Graves County Ambulance Service and Symsonia Fire Department.
