CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The new Pony Cabaret and Steakhouse in Carbondale, Illinois is getting a lot of attention about what employees wear to work.

Now, city leaders are trying to clear up some language about the dress code for some local establishments.

City leaders say the discussion was sparked by recent complaints about the Pony Cabaret on E. Main Street.

But some local business owners say there are bigger issues that need to be addressed.

"I really do think we could spend our energy and our time about other things," local business owner, Jennifer Adkins said.

Members of the city council voted unanimously on Tuesday evening, to change the law to make it clear that a business that operates as adult use, which allows for greater nudity, is not allowed by establishments that hold a liquor license.

Jerry Westlund, owner of the Pony Cabaret said that his business follows all city rules, and that the women are properly covered.

"I will defend my employees and customers as far and as long as the Constitution allows me to," Westlund said.
