NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Both of the northbound lanes of Interstate 55 near the 57 mile marker has been reopened after a tractor trailer fire on Wednesday, Oct. 29 just before 5 p.m., according to Corporal Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

All officers and the Missouri Department of Transportation were clear from the scene as of 10:30 p.m.

Cpl. Parrott said the tractor trailer was hauling cars and it is reported that one of the vehicles exploded.

Traffic was being diverted at the 49 mile marker onto US 61 north to Matthews.

The New Madrid County Fire Department also responded.
