ILLINOIS (KFVS) - The Egyptian Health Department held an informational meeting on Ebola on Monday, Oct. 27 for community partners.
Those at the meeting included area hospitals, emergency managers, law enforcement, ambulance services, state's attorneys and coroners.
Director of Public Health, Jamie Byrd, began the meeting by giving some background on the Ebola virus.
He also discussed what the state and local health departments have been doing to prepare in the event a case occurred in the area.
The Egyptian Health Department has been participating in state and federal conference calls to stay on top of any developments as well as reviewing emergency response plans and procedures related to isolation and quarantine.
The group also discussed preparedness efforts by all present. CDC guidelines regarding appropriate personal protective equipment for first responders were reviewed and discussed.
The health department said they will continue to work together with local officials and community partners to share information.
They would like to remind area residents that no suspect or confirmed cases of Ebola have occurred at this time in the three counties: Saline, Gallatin and White.
