MINER, MO (KFVS) -

Police in Miner, Missouri arrested a man wanted on two warrants.

Matthew T. Ballew. was arrested on two active warrants. One was through the Poplar Bluff Police Department and the other was a Missouri Department of Corrections, parole absconder, no bond warrant.

Miner police filed additional charges through the Scott County Prosecutors Office for false information and forgery.

Ballew is currently being held in the Scott County Jail.

According to Miner police, an officer saw Ballew driving in a residential neighborhood and noticed the vehicle he was driving had Missouri 2013 expired registration on the front and current Missouri 2015 on the rear.

Police say Ballew acted suspiciously and appeared to be trying to elude officers.

After getting pulled over, police say Ballew gave them a fictitious name, Johnathan Betts, and was arrested for having a suspended driver's license under that name.

Police say there was a young child in the vehicle. They say they were unsuccessful several times in trying to contact the child's mother.

They took the child to police headquarters where a grandmother was contacted. She then took custody of the child.

After investigating, and with the help of social media, police say they discovered Ballew gave them a false name.

As of Monday, Oct. 27, he was being held at the Scott County Jail.
