SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A dozen kids participated in the 12th Annual Illinois Dream Hunt in Saline County, Illinois on Saturday.

This hunt is for terminally ill or severely disabled kids and gives kids a chance to experience the thrill of hunting.

Twelve kids came out to the Sahara Woods State Park in Saline County, Illinois to hunt a deer in what may be their first hunting experience.

"These kids are not able to hunt due to their condition and this may be their last chance," Jim MacFarland, Coordinator, said. "These kids want to hunt and it's a great experience for them."

This kids will pair off with adults in different areas of the woods.

They will hide out in tents and have their guns loaded for the chance at scoring their first deer.

Since 2003, Organizers say the Illinois Dream Hunt has been in Carrier Mills, Illinois.

The hunt is for youth with special needs between 8 and 18 years of age.

Jim McFarlane says the hunt could not be possible without many volunteers, churches and local businesses pitching in to help the kids.

The room and board for families was donated by Ohio Association of General Baptist Camp Oxford Youth Camp in Rudement, Illinois.
