A Cape Girardeau, Missouri man is accused of fleeing a traffic stop before crashing his car into a home in Carbondale, Illinois.
Darrian Jake, 20, was charged with aggravated fleeing to elude, resisting a peace officer and driving while under the influence of alcohol.
According to Carbondale police, on Friday, an officer with the Carbondale Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a car for a traffic violation in the 600 block of West Main Street.
After the car was stopped, the driver abruptly fled from the traffic stop and drove westbound on West Main Street.
The officer pursued the vehicle until it turned northbound onto North Oakland Avenue at a high rate of speed.
The officer stopped the pursuit.
The car continued northbound on North Oakland Street where it was unable to negotiate a corner in the 900 block of North Oakland Street and crashed into a home.
The residents of the home were there and were not injured during the collision.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Darrian Jake out of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Jake and the passenger in the vehicle were taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into this incident is continuing.
