GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Graves County boys' basketball team recently completed a local community service project.

The team spent most of a Saturday morning picking up trash, cutting grass and trimming limbs at a home in Pryorsburg.

“We are very appreciative of the support we receive from the community and we wanted to take the opportunity to give back in a very practical, hands-on way,” said Eagles head coach Josh Frick. “A need was brought to my attention and our players, parents, and coaches were eager to jump in to help.”

The project also served as an opportunity for players and coaches to collaborate in a different way than on the basketball court.

“We were able to come together as a team and do something for someone who needed help,” said junior Christian Gough.

Senior Andrew Smith added, “I thought what we did was a really good thing and you can tell that it meant a lot to the family we helped. I learned that no matter the situation, you can always put forth the time and effort to help someone.”

The Eagles kick off their season against the Massac County, Ill. Patriots at the Marshall County HoopFest at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4.
