Father, daughter collect pull tabs for charity

MARION, IL (KFVS) - A father, daughter duo are collecting pull tabs from all over southern Illinois to donate to The Ronald McDonald House Charity.

And they're not done paying it forward yet.

How many can tabs does it take to fill an entire bin? A lot.

"Helping people is the right thing to do," said Zoie Garner.

One tab at a time, Zoie and Zane Garner say they're paying it forward.

Zane Garner spent months living in the Ronald McDonald House before his daughter was born.

"When she was in the mother's belly during the pregnancy we about lost her and the mom," said Zane Garner.

Now, the pair are trying to give back to families in similar situations.

"They should have places like that period. I mean, everything you love is right in front of you and you are getting ready to lose it. The last thing you need to be thinking about is a roof over your head,” he said.

Together, the two placed boxes all over southern Illinois and they're asking the community to help in their effort.

One of those locations is outside Black Diamond Harley Davidson.

"I am blessed I can teach my daughter to do good things,” Zane said.

They've already collected gallons, but there is no stopping them yet.

"To help people," said Zoie.
