POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -
An investigation is underway after a report of shots fired Tuesday night at Bacon Park in Poplar Bluff, according to the Poplar Bluff Police Department.

Officials say officers were called to the park around 8:15 p.m. for a report of gunshots.

Descriptions for three vehicles involved were given and an officer found one of the vehicles on Main Street. An investigation found the vehicle had been at Bacon Park and had damage from a gunshot, according to police.

The incident involved two different groups of people, Police Chief Danny Whiteley says, and the people involved in the incident are believed to also be involved with illegal drug activity in parts of Southeast Missouri.

Police are still trying to piece together what exactly happened and have interviewed several witnesses. There are also several persons of interest who police say are being sought.

No injuries were reported, according to Whiteley.

If you have any information about the incident, call the Poplar Bluff Police Department or your local law enforcement.
