Street Machine Nationals becomes an annual event

DU QUOIN, IL (KFVS) - Not only will Street Machine Nationals return to Du Quoin in 2015, but two years after that.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Du Quoin State Fair Ground Manager, Shannon Woodworth announced a three year contract with Street Machine's as well as several other "non-fair events."

One of those "non-fair events" will be an amateur motor cross series Memorial Day weekend.

Woodworth said the additional events will help boost the local economy and bring more money into Du Quoin.

“If we could land one more event the size of street machine as a non-fair event throughout the year, what a tremendous, tremendous positive economic impact that the fairgrounds would continue to grow in this region,” said Woodworth.

Woodworth also announced the creation of a five-person advisory committee, which will help with scheduling future fair events.
