CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A charity golf tournament in Cape Girardeau, Missouri helped families of fallen highway patrol troopers.

Artisan Contracting invited organizations throughout the area to a charity golf tournament on Monday at the Cape Girardeau Country Club.

The company is sponsoring MASTERS, an organization that stands for the Missouri Association of State Troopers Relief Society.

MASTERS establishes a voluntary charitable fund for families of highway patrol troopers who have died in the line of duty.

Seventeen teams came out to support the cause of the organization.

Larry Frankum, president of Artisan Contracting, said he admires the work that MASTERS does.

"I have respect for them," Frankum said. "And this is the only way I could think of, that could make a tangible difference in helping them to be better. Or to better able help the fallen troopers."

Frankum said Artisan Contracting plans on sponsoring MASTERS again next year, hoping to raise even more money to help those families.
