PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A Paducah, Kentucky man is in the McCracken County Regional Jail after police say he tried to rob a hotel early on Monday, Oct. 20.

Clinton C. Miller, 24, was charged with first degree robbery, third degree and second degree fleeing or evading police.

He was also served a Calloway County summons charging him with theft by deception.

According to Paducah police, an employee of the Baymount Inn on Cairo Road called police just after 6 a.m. He said a man came into the hotel and demanded money. He said the man was wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, women's sunglasses and brass knuckles.

The employee said he refused and picked up the phone to call police.

The suspect then tried to crawl over the counter, apparently changed his mind and left out of the back door of the hotel.

Police arrived at the hotel and set up a perimeter.

One officer said he saw a man matching the description of the robber run into a garage behind a house near the hotel. He said the man crawled under a vehicle the ran away again.

Officers chased the man through a field and caught him in a ditch near Olivet Church Road.

Underneath the man, identified as Miller, officers say they found brass knuckles.

According to police, they found women's sunglasses under the car in the garage where Miller had allegedly tried to hide.
