Flu season: How to protect yourself

(KFVS) - Local health officials say flu season is definitely upon us.

With that in mind, they also cautioned that the flu is something you have a much higher chance of getting, especially young people in elderly, then the Ebola virus.

Doctors and nurses say recent studies show menus, carts at stores, and playgrounds were recently found to carry the highest amount of germs.

Health officials say the best thing that you can do is wash your hands several times a day especially if you've been in contact with one of these items.

Local nurses say getting vaccinated is your best course of action, but if you use not too proper hand-washing is something that should be done regularly as well as eating a healthy diet and getting enough rest.

Monday, Oct. 20 a flu clinic will be held in Jackson from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Vaccinations will be on hand at the American Legion.

Another will be held Oct. 29 at Fire station # 2 in Cape Girardeau. That clinic will last from noon until 6 p.m.
