Fall means big business for pumpkin farmers everywhere but especially in Illinois

Some estimate about 90 percent of all pumpkin filling starts in the Land of Lincoln.

A report from the state shows it is a $33 million industry annually.

For the local growers and sellers the fall season means big business.

"The fall selling season has really increased in the last few years with the sales of pumpkins and mums and that kind of thing. People are doing more decorating." pumpkin seller Betty Shepard said.

Illinois State Rep. Keith Sommer,R-Morton filed legislation earlier this year to make pumpkin the official state pie.
