Graves County School Board candidates hold meet and greet

Two candidates for the Graves County School Board held a meet and greet Saturday night in Mayfield, Ky.

William Bell is running for District 1, and Josh Cherry is running for District 2.

The candidates met with members of the public from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

You can find more information on Bell and Cherry's campaigns at www.changeforgravescounty.com

Here are statements each candidate issued on that website.

Will Bell:

"In the past year I worked to put the School tax increase on the ballot for the citizens to decide. I am also one of the parties that filed the current lawsuit to keep Cuba Elementary from being sold. I will be a board member that stands up for and represents our community elementary schools, and I will work to bring accountability and integrity back to the Graves County School Board."

Josh Cherry:

"The children in each of our communities are the future of Graves County & they should be the priority for the Graves County School Board. Providing them with the best education possible & making sure they continue to develop throughout their years in the county school system should take precedence over building new buildings and increasing school sizes. The closing of Cuba Elementary has opened my eyes to many areas of over spending and poor decisions made by the current administration and it's time to make a change. The current board has already tried to pass a tax increase, and if we don't vote them out, it will happen again."
