CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Court papers show a southeast Missouri man faces several charges after police arrested him after a high speed chase on Friday night.

The Cape Girardeau County prosecutor accuses Matthew David Cameron, 30, of Steele, Missouri of evading police at a high rate of speed on several Cape Girardeau streets and parking lots with a two-year-old child in the car.

That's according to the court's probable cause arrest warrant filed in Cape Girardeau Circuit Court.

Cameron faces four charges including endangering the welfare of a child, resisting a lawful stop, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and careless and imprudent driving.

Cameron is accused of speeding away from police on a number of Cape Girardeau streets.

Police say the chase continued across the Emerson Bridge onto Illinois on Route 3.

Cape Girardeau police notified the Alexander Sheriff's Office and Illinois state police before terminating the chase.

Cameron was taken into custody later at an apartment on Themis in Cape Girardeau.

At the time of the chase, he had three active warrants for his arrest, police report.

The warrant was signed by Judge Benjamin Lewis.
