Man accused of shooting 2 Illinois deputies caught

CHICAGO (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of shooting two sheriff's deputies in suburban Chicago has been captured after more than 15 hours on the loose.

Illinois State Police say 52-year-old Scott Peters was captured late Thursday afternoon about two miles from his home in Holiday Hills.

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren says Peters is suspected of firing a rifle through the front door when deputies arrived at his home around 1:30 a.m. The sheriff says Peters fled after the shooting.

Nygren says the deputies, who are hospitalized, were responding to a domestic disturbance call. He says Peters' wife and child were in the home but unharmed.

Holiday Hills is about 45 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.
