WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - Family and friends of a Williamson County woman found dead a week ago mourned her loss on Wednesday night, Oct. 15 at a vigil in the center of Marion, Ill.

This comes as investigators try to figure out what happened to 53-year-old Lisa Uzzle.

Police are still searching for suspects in the mysterious case now ruled a homicide.

Investigators announced that an autopsy showed that Uzzle was shot several times before her body was burned in a rural Williamson County home off of South McGleesville Road.

“We need to get the word out there, that there is a killer out there," Lacey Kay Price said, a long time friend of Uzzle and her daughter Stephanie.

"Lisa, she was an awesome person, Price said. "And for someone to want to do this to her. It baffles me, I don't understand it.”

It took investigators more than a month and DNA testing to identify the remains and release the information to the public. Still, many questions remain unanswered in the case.

The investigation is being handled by the Williamson County Sheriff's Department.

Police are not releasing specifics in the case because it is an ongoing investigation.
