Illinois to receive more than $26 million to support small businesses

ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

The U.S. Treasury Department awarded $26.64 million to Illinois to support small businesses and create jobs across the state.

According to Gov. Pat Quinn, the award recognizes Illinois' success in creating and expansion small businesses.

Quinn said the award will help ensure that small businesses will have access to necessary credit from local banks.

“This federal award will provide access to capital for small business owners across our state who are helping to drive our economy and put more people back to work," Quinn said.

To date, Illinois has received $78.36 million under the State Small Business Credit Initiative.

Illinois ranks fourth among the states in its overall funding allocation under SSBCI.
