The San Francisco Giants used 7 and 2/3 shutout innings from Madison Bumgarner to blank the Cardinals 3-0 in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series Saturday night at Busch Stadium.
The Giants got on the board first off Adam Wainwright plating two runs in the second inning. Travis Ishikawa singled in the first run of the game, then a Matt Carpenter error scored the second run to put San Francisco up 2-0.
A Brandon Belt sacrifice fly in the third inning plated Buster Posey for the game's third run, giving the Giants a 3-0 lead.
Bumgarner did the rest, allowing just four hits and striking out seven.
The Cardinals will send Lance Lynn to the mound for Game 2 Sunday night against Tim Hudson.
