Two arrested after property stolen during home invasion

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -  Police arrested the man they say broke into a Poplar Bluff home and stole a laptop.

Around 3:50 p.m. Friday afternoon, officers were called to a home burglary in Poplar Bluff.

Reports say a woman was home alone with her 3 year-old son when a white man broke into their home.

The burglar apparently cut a screen in a window on the front of the home.

The woman then grabbed a golf club and confronted the man.

The intruder pulled out a knife, yelled and ran from the scene.

He did get away with a laptop.

Later that night, police were able to use a locating device installed on the computer which led them to West Spring Street in Poplar Bluff.

Police arrested Douglas Herzog and recovered the stolen computer.

He's in jail for allegedly receiving stolen property.

During an interview, Douglas Herzog said he purchased the computer from Nick Alcala.

Alcala was arrested and booked on 1st degree burglary charges.

He's also charged with armed criminal action and felony stealing.

Alcala is in the Butler County Jail on $250,000 bond.
