Driver injured in crash on KY 121

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A 30-year-old woman from Hardin, Ky. was injured in a crash with a semi on KY 121 Bypass at 4:16 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9.

According to Kentucky State Police, Heather Whitney was driving a 2003 Saturn Vue south on KY 121 Bypass when for unknown reasons she crossed into the northbound lanes.

Police say she hit an oncoming log truck in the front driver's side. The truck, a 1997 International, was driven by 52-year-old Sammy Smith of New Concord, Ky.

Whitney's car came to a rest on the east side of the highway. Police say the log truck stopped on the shoulder of the road.

Whitney was airlifted to a Nashville, Tenn. hospital.

According to police, Whitney's infant passenger was uninjured, but taken to a hospital for a precautionary exam.

They say Smith was not injured.

The road was closed for about one hour in order the clear the scene.
