PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Starting in January 2015, LATA Environmental Services of Kentucky, LLC will treat groundwater contamination.

LATA Kentucky is the cleanup contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Paducah Site.

During the cleanup, LATA Kentucky will treat groundwater contamination with deep soil mixing.

The two-acre cleanup zone was once used as land farm to biodegrade waste oils containing trichlorethene (TCE).

Crews will use steam to evaporate and remove the TCE.

A reactive iron will also be used to degrade any residual TCE in the soil.

Work is already in progress for this cleanup.
