Online service monitors possible fraud activity

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) - There is a new, free online subscription services that allows Cape Girardeau County residents to have their name/property monitored to track possible fraudulent activity.

Cape Girardeau County Recorder of Deeds Scott. R. Clark says subscribers will be notified when the name they have submitted is used in any recording activities within the recorder's office. When subscribing to the service, the subscriber will have the option to choose to be notified by email or telephone call.

In today's world of social media, people are sharing information that criminals can use to their advantage. For example, a countdown to a vacation tips off would be thieves that you'll be away from your house. 

The Property Fraud Alert does not prevent fraud from happening. It provides an early warning system for property owners to take appropriate actions should possible fraudulent activity take place.
