2 arrested in connection with Poplar Bluff shooting

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Two men been arrested in connection with a report of shots fired on Thursday, Oct. 9.

Gregory Kammerer, 32, of Poplar Bluff, was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle at an inhabitable structure. His bond was set at $500,000 cash only.

Kevin Busby, 26, of Poplar Bluff, was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, felony resisting arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle at an inhabitable structure and possession of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $500,000 cash only.

According to Poplar Bluff police, at 12:44 p.m. they responded to the 800 block of Park Street in reference to a report of gunshots fired into a home.

Police say a person in the home identified Kammerer and Busby as possible suspects in the shooting.

An officer then found Kammerer's vehicle a few blocks from the scene, and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but they say the driver refused to stop.

They say the driver sped up, turning repeatedly on streets in the downtown area and lost control after ramming a patrol vehicle.

Cpl. Dusty Johnson received minor injuries in the crash.

Kammerer and Busby were arrested and taken to the police department.

Police say a handgun was recovered from the scene of the crash.
