No needles, no problem! Bollinger Co. offers options for flu vaccinations

MARBLE HILL, MO (KFVS) - The Bollinger County Health Center held its annual flu clinic Tuesday, and offered options other than the normal flu shot.

If children are afraid of the actual needle, the center provides a mist, a flu vaccination that nurses gently spray in the nose. The mist can be given to people between the ages of two through 49.

Nearly 1800 people were vaccinated in Bollinger County in 2013. Nurses say it helped slow down the spread of the flu.

"That was great," Veronica Dodds, public health nurse with Bollinger County, said. "I feel like that not only protected them, but those around them too."

If you missed the fair on Tuesday, immunizations are given at the Bollinger County Health Center on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and other days by appointment.

You can check with your local health department to see if they offer flu vaccinations.
