Ballard Co. receives $25,700 in County Road Aid emergency funds

BALLARD COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced on Monday, Oct. 6 that Ballard County will receive $25,700 in County Road Aid emergency funds.

KYTC said the money is to reimburse the county for repairs to eight culverts along Thorgmorton Road, making it safer for cars, school buses and other vehicles that rely on the road.

On behalf of the Ballard County Fiscal Court and county residents, Judge-Executive Vickie Viniard expressed her appreciation for the emergency road assistance.

"A flash flood damaged an extended section of Throgmorton Road forcing it to be closed to travel," Viniard said. "With funding assistance from the Transportation Cabinet we were able to replace a number of damaged drainage tiles and pave the roadway to make it safer for our citizens. The funding helped us to speed completion of these repairs."

Viniard said the Ballard County Road Department was able to complete much of the work, helping reduce the cost to taxpayers.
