Driver facing several charges after McCracken Co. crash

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - A Mayfield man is facing several charges, including driving under the influence, after a crash that seriously injured one person early Sunday morning.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, 23-year-old Tyler S. Raney was driving on Highway 1241 just before 3 a.m. when he pulled into the intersection of US 45 and hit a truck driven by 65-year-old George Chamness of Creal Springs, Illinois.

Raney's passenger, 23-year-old Andrew N. Shultz of Sedalia, Kentucky, was thrown from the vehicle and taken to Lourdes Hospital with serious injuries.

Chamness and his two passengers were not injured in the crash.

Raney was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree assault, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, possession of open alcoholic beverage inside a motor vehicle and first-degree criminal mischief, according to the sheriff's office.

The road was shut down for 45 minutes while emergency crews cleared the area.
