WEAKLEY COUNTY, TN (KFVS) - A man has been charged with second-degree murder in Weakley County, Tennessee after an assault at a mental health group home early Saturday morning, according to the sheriff's department.
Investigator Captain Randall McGowan says the call for an assault came in right after midnight from 370 Haygood Road, just north of Martin, Tennessee. Deputies on the scene found 59-year-old Ollie Grandberry dead from head trauma.
The suspect, 32-year-old Marcus D. Freeman of Shelby County, Tennessee, had changed clothes and escaped through a window but was caught a short time later on Hutchens Road, according to McGowan, and charged with second-degree murder.
Freeman is scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6.
McGowan says Freeman has been a resident at the group home since June of 2014.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
