Event aims to be one-stop shop for homeless

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - An event that aims to help the homeless and others that are down on their luck took place Friday at the Osage Centre in Cape Girardeau.

Organizers call "Project Homeless Connect" a one stop shop. Folks who attend can get access to things like their birth certificates, driver's licenses and legal aid.

There are also people on hand to give free haircuts.

"Some of the most important are getting their birth certificates and driver's license and things that would allow them the ability to function better," said Roy Jones with Project Homeless Connect. "Those usually take time and money and we have the funds to pay for it which enables many of them to get what they would not be able to get otherwise."

The event lasted until 3 p.m.
