POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) - Three Rivers College was recently awarded a $660,000 "MoSTEMWINS" grant from the Department of Labor.
This grant focuses on expanding partnerships between employers and the college to provide job training.
It was formed in partnership with two year institutions across the state through a group headed by the Missouri Community College Association and the State Technical College of Missouri.
The money will be used to buy assessment and training equipment for mechanical and electrical skill, programmable logic and computer numeric controllers and process and control technology.
The new equipment will be combined into the college's Industrial Technology programs and used to improve the Advanced Manufacturing programs created with part of a $2.75 million Department of Labor grant the college received in 2013.
Three Rivers also plans to work in partnership withe several businesses to assess skill levels of employees and deliver training.
"We're pleased to be able to continue our history of working with local employers to improve the economy through these grants," said Dr. Wesley Payne, president of Three Rivers. "One of the greatest benefits to an economy is the presence of accessible higher education in a region, and we're proud to be part of that continuing development."
